Vinyl Fixx is a junglist in the purest sense of the word. Right from his beginnings in the world of production and DJ’ing, Fixx has always championed the sounds and lifestyle of Drum & Bass. Playing alongside some of the scene’s most established artists, he’s carved a name for himself alongside the genre’s greats, holding a torch for its foundations and releasing cut after cut of undiluted basslines. Playing beside the likes of Bad Company UK, DJ Craze, Tech Itch, John B, Gridlok, Optical, InsideInfo and Cyantific to name a few, he’s helped to solidify Drum & Bass within his hometown in Calgary, CANADA.
Another notable part of the maestro’s career would be his appearance on the “Planet Of The Drums” tour, where he was asked to perform as a part of its roster in Calgary. Playing alongside such a revered alliance of American DJs, his place was made within the American Drum & Bass scene’s history book. Helping to move Drum & Bass from the side rooms and onto the main stages, his presence and hard-lined Drum & Bass anthems resounded across the tour’s vast Calgary audience. This is the same energy he channels into every one of his records, proving he’s an undeniably heavy home-grown force for the Canadian scene and even across the Atlantic, Fixx is sure to bring the heat whenever he or his tracks are performed. However, this isn’t the only high-profile collective Vinyl Fixx has been a part of. Moving amongst the ranks of “Philthy City”, the outfit have made a name for themselves through their extensive presence across cyberspace, dominating radio shows, podcasts and events as “Off The Record” throughout Calgary and the wider Canadian Festival circuit are a definitive part of Vinyl Fixx’𝚜 far reaching capacity.
Having recently released the massive “Weapons Grade EP” in 2016 on Junglist Records, featuring four slick cuts of undiluted sonic warfare, his heavy-hitting riddims were a perfect fit for the UK Underground record label. He featured with artists such as Ed Solo, Bladerunner, Deekline, System and Alexbreako on the LP “Nothing But… Drum & Bass 4.0”, he’s been making himself known within the right circles, appearing against his long-time influencers. “Weapons Grade” is a stand out Amen track on the compilation and it was also the title-track for his first EP on Junglist Records. Also 2016 saw his track: “Good Body Gal” featured on “Warehouse Anthems Vol. 15” with producers Locksmith, Radicall, Mulder; an upfront dancefloor killer with the purist of Jungle influences. Fixx’𝚜 sound design always brings the flavour to get you on the dancefloor. With 2017 already looking further push his career forward following the compilation’s releases, his back catalogue helped set up this year’s foundations.
He’s also graced the discographies of RFR Digital where were released “Battle Tactics EP” and his first studio album “The Vice City Album” back in 2011, East Van Digital where went out his standalone EP’s “Mentality EP” and “Dominate EP” also on Black Tuna Recordings appearing with the massive track “Irie” on “Half Ounce Compilation”, as well on ISO:LATION TANK with his previous collaborations and remixes. His musical repertoire is continuing to grow. He’s already signed a second EP that will come out on 2018 at Junglist Records and will be released both vinyl and digital worldwide.
2017 shows no sign of slowing down for Fixx. This year sees him breaking into the top 10,000 out of over 200,000 globally ranked DJ’s on “The Official Global DJ Rankings”. His DJ sets continue to be crowd favourites, with throw backs to his early days in the scene, always showing respect to the foundations and producers that started it all. Vinyl Fixx subtly brings together the Old Skool and the more contemporary sounds which have infiltrated the genre, without doubt Fixx represents a new generation of producers who have a firm foundation in the future with a big respect to the Old Skool and his ever-growing fan base are biding their time before his next release or DJ set.
